Choreographic lab is an answer to the need of gathering independent dancers/interpreters from the city of Quito-Ecuador.
It´s main axis is to make visible creative processes, which combine different disciplines. We are not a conventional dance company, though dance is one of the main engines. The lab started with research and creative processes in 2011. Mandala is it´s first play and now we are about to release our second play, The city of the ignoble women, after living an interesting creative process as residents of the FUNDACION TEATRO BOLIVAR.
Through self-management, in 2014 we brought the group Els Comediants for an educational process shared with local actors in a wonderful scenic experience in the Plaza San Francisco, in the cities’ colonial center.
The city of the
ignoble women
A journey through diverse feminine roles, inspired by feminine characters.
Within the universe of Tanz Theater, the play creates dialogue between cinema and movement, creating a moment for observing dance and theater in conventional and non-conventional locations.
A 70-minute play directed towards all audiences.
Looking to make visible and exalt important, unknown (and sometimes rebel) feminine characters from our city. Coming together with the difficulty of saying everything without words.
The play is built on three main axes: Citizen participation, gender violence and the city as scenic experimental space. Evokes gentrification.
Reflections
THEME: Reflections on the human body and gender violence through women´s role in an urban context.
IDEA: Present a play with a cast of dancers, musicians and actresses.
Rosa Amelia Poveda a recognized choreographer of long trajectory and international recognition; has gathered a group of creators and interpreters for an artistic cohabitation in a selected wing of the emblematic Fundacion Teatro Bolivar, destined for this project.
With cultural impact through images and video, this play is ready for it´s premiere. The announcement will be mediatized and it’s being documented on professional level.
We expect through self-management to present our work on dance festivals, in different cities, or countries, since the nature of the COREOGRAPHIC LAB and of this play´s process allows this work to be adapted to different scenarios.
